Default Transmission Shift lever/shifter does not spring back to center of pattern, flops side to side even

The shifter in the car doesn't center itself. It flops left and right, but everything works ok, shifts fine. How do I fix this slop in the shifter?

What does your bushing look like? condition-wise. I would imagine it reaches a point where it's desintegrated, in which there is no tension given, thus this problem... Just thinking out loud here.
