Transmission Problems (heeeeeeelp!)
Ive been screwing around with my tranny for a month now and I cant get this peice of **** to shift right. Can someone please tell me whats not workin here. I swapped everything inside of a 98 gs-r tranny into my 96 LS case. I put it back together and it shifts 1-4 smooothly, 5th is kinda hard to get in and reverse doesnt go in. I have no tranny fluid in the tranny, im not sure that this makes a difference though, it just doesnt go into reverse at all. So I take it back out and replace everything that connects to the shifting mechanism and I also replace the 5th gear shift fork and the bar that connects to reverse. I put it back in and still the same thing.
Any ideas?

you need to use a gsr maingear and the necessary syncromeshs where the LS wont fit, i.e. 3rd. The two casings are not directly interchangeable ...
Usually you cn swap in the LS 3,4 and 5 counter and main gears using all other GSR internals ... but not the complete LS guts.
also, which ring gear ? LS 64 teeth or gsr 66 teeth ?
