Transmission Problems with '93 EX
Okay... This is my first post and it is going to be a doosie.
I have a 1993 Honda Accord EX automattic that is my beater. The car has been sitting for about a year since I was laid off, and started working from home. I use to drive it every day about 10 miles round trip but now my commute consists of 20 feet from my bed to my office, so the car just doesn't get used.
Anyways... I recently went to drive the car and the D4 light was on solid and the car was stuck in 2nd gear (limp home mode). Did a little googling and came up with the TCU (Transmission Computer) having leaking capacitors. Sure enough got it out, and opened it up and there was a bunch of damaged and shorted out components. No problem there went out and picked up a used unit. Put it in the car and the car now shifted in all gears, and the D4 now blinks.
I shorted out the service connector and got the code 02. Had a buddy of mine post here and found out that the code means the "lock up" solenoid. Okay. So I purchased a used "lockup solenoid" (the lower one came with it so I replaced both). Took the car out expecting that the D4 problem was solved, but it continued to flash.
I figured I would throw in some SeaFoam Trans Tune before I drained the fluid and replaced it with Genuine Honda ATF. So I do all that (following the directions on the trans tune) and replace the ATF with genuine Honda ATF... Take the car for a spin and the car shift smoother (to be expected) and the D4 was flashing again.
I check the codes and I now have 4 codes on the transmission. The codes it gave me are:
01
02 (Lock Up Solenoid)
07
08
Can anybody assist me with those codes?
I also had an ECU code 43 which I looked up and found was "Fuel Supply System defective or malfunctioning fuel supply system". So... WTF does that vague message mean? Last I checked the fuel system system could mean a crapload of things.
Any help is greatly apprecaited.
