Default Transmission oil overfilled

I over filled my transmission...about 1" over the max mark. Is this a potentially bad problem? Should I drain it out? What could happen if it overfilled like this?

its bad...but how bad...dunno. You might experience 'jumpy' shifting...the increased hydraulic pressure inside the trans is not exactly a good thing....(automatic)

I put my engine in a couple weeks ago, and noticed today the bottom of the tranny had oil on it. I got the car level and took the fill bolt out and at least a half a quart drained out. I didn't noticed it at all driving.

One other time I had it overfilled and several times it would get stuck in gear. Took a good yank to get it out, then everything was normal. I leveled the car and emptied out the excess and didn't have the problem again.

This is all for a manual transmission, sounds like you're talking about an automatic.

I'm wondering the same thing... I dunno if I overfilled mine or not... The Helms manual tells ya to fill till the fluid comes out of the trans... I'm doing that... except mine's leaking when I take the fill bolt out too...

You fill it till oil comes out of the fill bolt. Make sure the car is on level ground and take off the fill bolt, if anything comes out let it. It was overfilled. Once it stops dripping out put the bolt back in and you are done.
