Transmission issue.....
Ok Here goes. After installing the shift linkage to the car, I started the car to see if i could switch gears and to see if I had the clutch cable installed properly. Well I can shift into all gears except reverse. And It doesn't matter if I have the clutch pressed or not. I even took the clutch cable off to see if i could still shift gears while the car was started and I can. And i also noticed that every time i put it into gear the speed needle moves up 5 so like from 5 to 10 to 15...... each gear it goes up 5 mph. There are no axles in the car its on jack stands. Not sure if thats the reason. Dose anyone have a clue why I am able to shift gears with the clutch not pressed? Did i install the clutch wrong. Thanks for your help. I read this link but it dose not sound like the same problem i'm going through https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1 and also if i'm in gear the car dose not stall. so its like the clutch is pressed all the time but its not. And oh yeah I have a b16a in a crx hf 91.
When there's no axles installed, the synchros have plenty of force to get the differential spinning. That's not unusual. After you put the axles & wheels on it won't be like that any more.
The real question is... Without axles installed, how do you keep tranny oil from pouring out the hole where the axle goes??

u fingured out a *new* way to power shift! good for you, umm i dont know wut the problem is my friends sisters LS does the same thing but i think shes got the hydro tranny, we havnt really F*ed with it cuz the cars busted anyway and we dont feel like waisting the time on it cuz if its not one thing its gotta be another ya know.

dude, just no
like said before there is not much force for your internals to have ot work against
the reason why you are seeing a speed is because the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) is geared off of your differential, and since there is hardly any mass the diff spins freely thus creating a speed reading on your speedo
also if you are letting your tranny internals shift and rotate without proper lubrication you may have just ruined your tranny. You should NEVER let the tranny internals mesh and spin at high RPM's without lubrication.

Ok I got in my car today and i took it for a "test drive" when i shift it into gear and press the gas it goes up like i'm driving. in every gear but i cant get into reverse and the car still dosnt stall when i let the clutch go while the car is started and in gear. Is this a good thing or bad thing.
sounds like its not releasing fully...allowing you to be able to drop the clutch without stalling and not engaging fully to allow you in reverse. try adjusting your cable setup.
I was thinkin that was it to but when i took the clutch cable off and let the shift lever down.(the thing that the end of the clutch cable is hooked to near the tranny) I can still shift gears with out holding the clutch down. except for reverse. Now becuase the lever is all the way down i shouldnt be able to shift gear's while the car is started right? I mean it has no axles so i am not sure if that has something to do with it.

When you shift gears, the synchro can easily get the differential spinning. If your axles were installed but the wheels were off the ground, it might even have enough force to get the tire spinning. But it sure won't work with the wheels on the ground... Don't get confused by what it can & can't do without axles.
