Trans...
A little help here.
I have an '89 SEI with an automatic. I'm going to be turbo charging it and am wondering how well will the auto hold up? I'm rebuilding the engine and the trans, so they will be fresh(170K on them now)
Now I'm NOT looking to build an 11sec. monster, I have an IROC R/T for that!
But I'm looking for 10psi max and about 180hp. And yes I'll have all of the pertnant monitors, gages , fuel adders and I/Cooler to cope with the smallish Mitsubishi turbo that I will be useing.
So, HOW ABOUT IT!!!

I'm not sure about that poor little transmission. The clutch packs seem like they can barely hold the power it's got as it is. If you could use some kind of friction modifier, you might be able to. Just from the way the manual transmissions feel, I don't have much confidance in them either! Do it and find out is the best way, I think.
Well I was HOPING that some one may have done a performance rebuild of one of these older automatics... and save me some trouble.
Well if it breaks...... IT BREAKS!!!$$!!!!

somewhat off topic, but i'd just like to say that Accord SE-i's are ******* awesome. factory leather, all the options, and unique wheels.. my friend chad has one of these... it was very nice.
I like it. I was working at San DIego Honda when the firts SEI came out in 85.
So when the NEW body style came along.... Loved it!! Kind of a Euro-sedan look. Clean lines and all.
I bought it from the original owner. It needs some attention, but it's really nice.
It came from Arizona, so it is CORROSION FREE!!!!!!
It's just a little gutless in Salt Lake City for my likings, hence the Mitsubishi turbo to be installed.(5K elevation= 1point loss of compression and adds .4sec in the 1/4mile)
yah, a little off topic but????
