Default Tranny Swap. H23A1 tranny into Civic

I'm having some trouble installing the tranny into my 92 civic. I'm using an auto H23A1 motor and tranny from a 93 prelude and the problem is I have no 1st gear at all. I've compared the shift linkage and cable and shifters of the civic and prelude and see the differences, but i even tried to use the preludes shifter and all and it still won't go into 1st gear, not even when it's in Drive. Anyone have a clue what my problem might be?

i thought that applied to 5spds only. i'm going from an auto civic to an auto prelude and they both have cable acuated shifters.

So are you saying the tranny won't shift into 1st gear or you can't move the gear selector into 1st gear?
If the tranny won't go into 1st, the you have a problem w/ tranny
If the selector lever won't go to 1 then maybe you need the prelude or accord gear selector.
