Default Tranny rebuild

Where can I order a jdm b16a trans rebuild kit? Or do I have to take apart the trans and see whats broke and order it through honda. Are there aftermarket rebuilds? I also plan on throwing in an lsd while I'm in there. I did the search your help would be much appreciated.

I have purchased a synchro repair kit online. It contains synchros and bearings. I took the tranny out and then opened it up. Toughest part of opening was dropping the one stem out of the snap ring. Oh and the square bolts had to be driven off and ruined - and replaced.
Oh, and I ruined a synchro hub, and... a synchro spring. Ha Ha!!! I went to http://www.gearspeed.com and the nicest girl ever helped me replace the synchro spring. The synchro hub I replaced through a request to this board. Both items were ruined while putting the stems back together.
I have been waiting for my LSD before putting everything back together. I received the LSD this past week (I had to save money for the purchase). Soon I will be putting the forks and stems and everything back together. I imagine I will be fighting with the top snap ring again. HAha
I only started this project because I had the time. Couldn't have done this with a daily driver. fobile.

transparts wharehouse 866 - 223 - 5656. Most of the time the synchros are causing the problems. If gears are chewed then you'll have to contact gearspeed.com. But the "transparts" synchro kit is an all around good kit.
The chewed up bolts I replaced using estore.honda.com . Every one involved with re-con jobs needs to set up an account at this location. I find all the little bolts and tubes and the and the and ....at the estore.honda.com The site has the cleanest detail for honda parts.
You will find just how far honda is willing to "part-out" its systems. I am currently stymied by the un-availability of the little "star" bolts (torx 50 bolts) that honda uses to hold the trailing arm and rear hub spindle together. Anyone have extra torx bolts? HAhaha. fobile.
Good luck, I think transparts wharehouse will help you. Using the search for tranny reconditioning can produce a number of rebuild examples to help your effort.

Thanks guys!

After my 3 gear grind started I picked up some GM sychromesh, the first day [yesterday] it still was grinding like before [95% of the time]. But last night [this mornig] it hardley grinded at all, only a few times all night. Is this usual, does it have to get worked in first?

I'm probably still going to do the rebuild, this may just give me more time to save for the lsd.

I agree. Don't open unless it will be worthwhile. I wouldn't have opened mine without having that LSD dream. Messing with the shaft parts is fun. I need to tell you how I ruined the synchro hub. I do not expect you to be as void as me so feel free to have a laugh.
The last section of the shaft was on. I had pinched the last synchro spring (you'll find out what they are - a small wire that goes around the synchro) and just received the replacemant. WHoohoo!! I placed the spring and brought down the hub to seat it around the synchro. It wouldn't come down all the way?? Took out a wood block and gave a couple wacks - no movement. HHHmmmppphhh!!!! Decided to give a mighty blow with the hammer. Metal to metal. BBBAMMM!! I hit that m%^^(^%((^#er !!!! OOOPS!! heehee. I split off the ears of the hub!
Ahhh man, decided to turn the hub over and seat it the opposite way. HHheyy, the hub sat right in place. But.. the hub ears were no good now. RATS!!!!
A fellow board savior helped replace the synchro hub. I asked for help because honda only supplies an entire hub assembly - you guessed it - $180.00 bucks for a $24.00 hub.
Don't let anyone scare you. Even with my stupidity I feel better doing this repair myself. Good Luck. Oh, "Super Street" magazine July 2005 has an LSD install. Some pictures there for you.
