Default tranny question

Hey all. In the big snow storm my foot slipped off the clutch and I grinded bad. Now my car will only shift from 2nd to 3rd below 2k RPM. I can shift from 4th to 3rd no problem at any RPM, not even rev matching.
So me, (not knowing much about a tranny), thinks that the syncro from 2nd to 3rd is gone. Can anyone tell me what I did, and the part(s) I may need? I've just been driving everywhere going 1-2-4-5. Gotta take it to 4k in 2nd then shift to 4th

Thanks!

You are experienceing the exact same thing many GS-R owners experience. Bad 3rd gear synchro. Mine went bad on my 1994 and I have read about several others doing the same thing. I sold my car before I fixed the problem so I really can't help you except telling you that it is a common problem.

I'll add to that 3rd gear synchro problem with my GSR tranny. I'm getting ready to tear it apart and see what parts I'll be needing..

at this point, the cost of having a "professional" rebuild the transmission is more than buying a used one. if you have the expertise (or a close friend who will do it for cheap), then i say rebuild it. in regards to parts... last i checked, you can get the "sleeve set" and the gear set seperately according to the Acura parts software, but does Acura still sell them seperately is another issue. You'll need to call your parts counter for that. The cost is approximately $260 for the gear set.
