Default Tranny Problems

I have a 5-speed 95 Integra LS. Very frequently, but not always, it is very hard, I would say nearly impossible, for me to get into First and Reverse from a standstill. The way I solve this problem is by releasing the brakes, letting the car roll a bit and then it will pop into gear easily. The other way is, say if it won't go into Reverse, to put it in First and drive forward a bit. The problem does not always occur simultaneously with First and Reverse; ie, sometimes I can get it into one but not the other.

The other problem I've been having is with Third gear. Occaisonally, but not frequently, trying to shift into Third will cause a terrible grinding noise. I would say it sounds just like it would if I were not using the clutch. However, I am using the clutch. The only disclaimer I have to mention is that I'm not pushing the clutch all the way to the floor until it grinds and scares me and then I'm extra careful with it. But it has never done it with other gears . If I attempt a shift, it grinds, I'll immediately stop trying to put it into gear, put it back into neutral, maybe even into Second or Fourth (with no problems), and then try again and its fine. This is all done at speed.

Please let me know what the problem might be as I am planning to install an ACT HDSS clutch and Clutchmasters Lightweight Flywheel within the month and would like to get all tranny work done at once.

Thanks,
Ben
