Default Tranny Problem.. Please help.. Already Searched.

My buddys gsr is having tranny issues.. The tranny doesnt grind but heres the problem.. U cant put the car in gear when its on but if u turn it off then u can find only 3rd 4th and reverse. Either way its pointless because Theres no neutral. Even when its in neutral the car still drives as if its in 4th gear. Mainly the only way to get the car to move is to leave it in neutral which is 4th gear and ride the clutch hella by giving it gas.. thats the only gear that works.. Can anyone give me some pointers on what it could be?? I'm thinking either the shifter fork or clutch.. any advice is needed.. thanks in advance..

if you can select 3rd 4th and R then I dont think its the clutch. did you check the fluid? was the tranny working previously and has anything changed since it was working properly?
