Default tranny problem

ok i got a 99-00 si tranny and i was driving on the freeway when all of a sudden my **** just popped out of gear so i tryed to put it back in but no use in any gear. what do you think the problem is. i had my friend take off the tranny of my car and hes got the clutch and everything out but he didnt open up the actual tranny to see if any syncros or bearings are messed up. but before i do that what do you think is wrong? i tried to start the car and it will go in gear but just whistles. sort of a whistle sound. but any info would be gladly appreciated.

If it pops out of gear, that's usually bent shift forks. Did it go into gear after you stopped? Did you try to bleed the clutch lines first? Was the master/slave cylinder in good shape?

Since the transmission is out, you might as well crack it open to check things out. It's tough to tell weather the synchro hub is worn or not. You can definitely inspect the shift forks and shift piece; make sure everything is within spec.

hmmmm...since i put some new rear trailing arms my brakes stopped working. i would have to put brake fluid in that **** everyday. dunno tho...hopefully its just the syncros. after i pulled over when it broke down it would go in gear but just whistled. and wouldnt go anywhere. any more info would be appreciated.

if it would pop out of gear in one gear, then i would say its your synchro; but since you say its in all gears it's most likely shift forks
