Default Tranny Problem!!!

Ive got a GSR tranny that shifts smoothly and does not pop out. The problem is when downshifting at a high RPM from 4th to 3rd gear (or 5th to 3rd) it doesnt want to go in until the RPMs go down. And when it does, it sometimes feels pretty grindy (not really any noise though). Also when I come up to a stop sign, I stop and attempt to put it in first, and it also feels rough/grindy. With the 1st gear and 3rd gear nastyness, I was wondering if this sounds like a bad synchro problem, or maybe the actual change holder itself? Just thought I'd ask before I pull it apart.

Fluid was fresh GM Synchromesh Friction Modified (about 2000 miles), and just switched to Honda MTF, the problem still remains. Clutch is a good condition (about 2000 miles) 6 puck sprung disc
