Default Tranny prob q's

Friends tranny was working fine then all of a sudden it wouldnt go into 1st, 2nd, and reverse. after a little trying it started working fine again for a couple days then it did the same thing again. it works fine now but what could be the problem? any info would be appreciated thanks.

How does it "not go in"? Does it grind or is it just blocked out? The difference between a dragging clutch & a shot synchro is something you want to feel firsthand...

Usually a dragging clutch will block you out of all gears, not just 1, 2, & R. But reverse doesn't have a synchro in the first place...

Maybe a bent or loose shift linkage? Or bad motor mounts? That way it's like you aren't lined up with the gate when you try to push it into gear.

alright thanks for the info ill have him check out his lynkage and mounts. i guess he said it just blocked him out of those gears for a little while.
