Default tranny help

My tranny on my VX makes some wierd noise in first, and i can here it in second and third sometimes. it almost sounds like reverse or something..its a winding noise you could say. i was told that it might be my pilot bearing but i cant find that anywhere in a chiltons manual..any help would be appreciated

The pilot bearing is the bearing in the middle of your flywheel--take pressure plate and clutch disk off and u should see the flywheel.

that noise can also be made by the mainshaft bearing within the tranny.. these bearings are commonly overlooked.
