tranny help...
so I finally have everything together. one thing is that I can't get the snap ring to fully seat on the countershaft bearing. when you look down into the tranny, the right side of the snap ring is seated but the left side is like .00001(sacarsam
) away from being seated. it's so freakin close, it's right on the lip of the bearing. I believe the spec in the Helms manual says that the gap can only be .245 inches wide but it's about at .300+. you guys thing it'll be ok to run it like this? TIA!
by the way, this is for a JDM m2b4(LSD h22a tranny).

k, well I took it apart again, checked everything and it looks fine. put everything back together. now both sides of the snap ring are on the bearing except the gap is still wider then what Helms is asking for. should I just run it like this? I believe the measurement is around .3xx inches and Helms is asking for .245 inches. TIA
Turn the transmission upside-down and listen for the "thunk" that indicates the countershaft has dropped. You may need to drop it on a service manual to get it to seat the snap ring fully around the bearing.
Drop it on a service manual? I always just used the ground. LOL.
Anyways... regarding the clip... I don't actually know what goes into replacing one... but if it's out of spec, I'd say it's out of spec. Replace it if you can. More than likely it will be fine. But just for insurance, I would replace it.

actually that's the very first thing I tried. lol, not dropping it on a manual but on my workbench. I turned it upside and dropped it to see if the countershaft would drop. it never snapped into place. I dropped it a few times actually.
lol...

I actually replaced the clip AND bearing from another tranny. same thing, the snap ring wouldn't fully seat or the gap was too wide.
this is driving me nuts!!!! any more suggestions?
