Closing tranny Case
I just changed my ISB and now im putting everything back and The case does not go all the way down. Its not the snap ring because the ring hasnt even touched the bearing yet. What can this be? Any help would be great
i see an Si in your sig
is this a b16 tranny?
there is a washer on the main shaft, that has a notch in in. make sure that it lines up with the notch inside the transmission case

yeah all that is good. I finally was able to close the case and put the snap ring on the counter shaft. Now once I had the tranny fully built, the mainshaft does not spin??? Why can this be?
i have....and i follow the helms to the T and nothing??? What I did today was replace the ISB and the angular bearing on top of the mainshaft. I also replace the spring washer and washer that goes on top of the ISB. Is it possible I have the ISB backwards?? I have it right now with the little letters that are etched on it facing up. Does that matter?

The main shaft only locks up when the lock ring is in place and some bolts are on. When the case is just a lil bit open it spins. I also loosened the counter shaft bolt but I tighten it back down and torqued it? Would that have anything to do with it?
I assembled the tranny with the main shaft only and it locks up. The tap on the washer up top is aligned with the case, and the bearing is seated all the way down just and just sticks out a little bit. Why would the mainshaft bind when the tranny is closed???
Are you sure the input bearing and the top mainshaft bearing are properly seated (especially the input bearing)? If the input bearing is not seated fully or is at an angle to the seat it might cause a bind. My best guess...
EDIT: Have you checked the runout on the mainshaft? I have heard of bad input bearings causing excessive runout.

Make sure everything on the mainshaft is seated correctly.
Did you check the mainshaft thrust clearance. I always check to make sure everything is good when changing anything on the mainshaft.

I didnt check it because I think u need a special caliper to do it. I have spent the whole week dealing with a smiple job like this....I just finished droping the tranny at a shop to see what they can do for me....I just hope they can fix it.
