Hey. im new to rebuilding transmission but i do know a little bit about the inside. I have a question for you all if you could help me out please. What would cause this: I recently had my tranny rebuilt (97 gsr) just replaced the synchros because mine were grinding and one day it just didn't go into gear.. like if the diff broke. (almost felt like the axles popped out, but they didn't) It wouldn't go into gear.. so i had the tranny rebuilt and it seemed to be good until 3 days later and it happened again.. nothing goes into gear... it would click into gear.. but the car wouldn't move. So i thought the diff broke.. there is a slight grinding noise when its in gear and you gas it. So then.. i wanted to figure it out..so i take the tranny off and hold the mainshaft while the axles are in and its in 1st gear.. i turn the mainshaft and i can stop the axles from moving!! Please let me know why i can do that. I think the diff is broke or something is stripped... I took the casing off ,mainshaft, countershaft and diff out.. I was wondering what do i look at if there is something wrong? PLEASE HELP. THANKS!
