Default tranny fluid

Could dirty or old tranny fluid cause a difficulty in shifting? When I say difficult shifting I mean having to force the shifter into gear!! Also, I did a search and many people are saying that you can use regular 10W30 or 10W40 in the tranny. Can others verify this? thanks Here's the link that says to use 10w30 http://home.golden.net/~vellac...g.htm

Yeah, it tripped me out too, but "tranny fluid" is just motor oil...

thanks man, how about an answer to the first part of my question? Could dirty or unchanged oil (plenty of it however 2 quarts) cause difficult shifting?
