tow points for jack stands?
ive seen it done before, but just wanted to make sure
can i put jack stands under the front tow points (hooks) to support the front of the car? the jacks i have dont fit under the factory jack points on the sides
my next idea was to cut the jacks a bit shorter...but i wanted to avoid it

are the factory jack points on the sides designed for the scissor tire jack? if so, then i wouldn't suggest putting the stands on them because at least on domestics, it's just flimsy sheet metal and isn't designed to have weight held up on those points
I usually put my jack stands under the sway arm bushings in the front and on the back I put them on the sub frame. I usually use a sisor jack in the front to the car up high enough to get a floor jack under the tranny then jack it high enough to get the stands under the sway arm bushings. in the back I take the lower tie bar off and put the jack on the cross member and raise it up. I dont like putting the jack under my tranny but I have not found a better way. I haven't had any problems from it. I wouldn't recomend that if you have an automatic.
DO NOT USE THE TOW HOOKS as jack/support points.
They look beefy, but the can bend.
Buddys car was using jackstands there.
Needed
1 radiator
1 condensor
1 lower core support
when the tow hooks folded over and car fell off the stands.
