I am looking at totally rebuilding a honda (civic, del sol, prelude, or crx), but need to know if it is conceivable. What tools do I need, at minimum, to perform this operation?

if you have to ask about the tools that you will need. Then you might want to reconsider doing this task.

You will spend a LOT of money on tools.

and the total job will cost you more than if you just took it to a professional in the first place.

That being said you need at least the following tools

Ratchet 3/8" & 1/2"
Sockets 3/8" & 1/2"
1/2" Impact sockets
1/2" Impact Gun & Air compressor
Piston ring compressor
screwdrivers
engine stand.
engine hoist
jackstands
jack
1/2" Torque Wrench
3/8" torque wrench
