Do you really think leaving the cam bolts a little loose is going to give you looser specs on the cam journals?

I just didn't think it would work that way, since when you Plastigage your mains, you only tighten them down to half of what the torque will be, and it gives you the clearances; these clearances don't change when you fully torque down the mains, so I assumed the same would be true w/ the cam caps.

the 6x1.0mm bolts=7.2lb-ft
8x1.25=20lb-ft

And no the bore dont change when you torque them down....so tq them down looser makes.....no difference
Unless you put them like at 5lb-ft

first of no one said anything about bore.tq yours down to spec and then do another motor,run them say 1-2k miles and look at the diff. then tell me if it don't make a diff.

no your implying,that no matter if you tighten or loosen them it won't make a diff. and i ask you to do that to a rod and get back to me.

i was just simply telling the guy that i run my cam caps a little loose to avoid wear on the cams and caps.it works for me.

now as far as the gestures go.we won't go there.
