Default Torqe wrench question?

Could someone tell me whats the highest ft/lbs i would need on a torqe wrench? The Snap-On truck came by the shop today, and he had a pretty good deal on a nice torqe wrench (5-75 ft/lbs). Is that enough?

Wheel lugs want about 80 lbf*ft, right? Crank pulley bolt wants maybe 140??

But 5-75 is probably reasonable if it's not your ONLY one. If you get a big one for the crank pulley bolt, it won't read fine enough when you're trying not to break your valve cover studs.

Also keep in mind when buying a torque wrench that most have a sweet spot. If you buy a wrench that goes from 5 to 75ft pounds you would not want to measure someing at 5 or 75 because if will have a large margin of error since it is at the beginning and end of the adjustment range. So a 5 to 75 wrench will most like be best for say 20 to 60. It depends of the manufactuer so check the specs in the manual before you buy.
