Default Topline bearings

i'm aware that Topline makes knock-off ITR pistons, etc. but what about their main/rod bearing kits? are they any good? has anyone here had any experience with them?

bump

also. i notice topline bearings don't have the same notches as OEM bearings (rods). does it matter which way they go?

All the Topline Honda bearings I have seen have been King's which are a good quality bearing.

a good local engine builder around here always uses topline bearings. he swears by them...

but the bearings should have notches in them? lock tabs or tangs they call them. they have to be there to hold them selves in place of the big end so they don't spin......you might have the wrong bearings....

i checked. there are small notches in the rod bearings. it was hard to see, as they are wrapped in plastic.

i was worried, as these bearings are "standard" and not sized for each rod (like OEM). but after hearing what you guys have to say, i feel a bit better.

i got rod and main bearings along with thrust washers for $60. i would have paid about $200 from Acura (not including thrust washers). i didn't have $200, so i'm very happy these bearings aren't P.O.S.

Standard size means Honda's green (middle) size. Make sure you Plastigage them for proper clearance and replace out of spec bearings with OEM. Have you read your block and crank to see what the stock bearing colors were?

strange. the rods have "23" on them. not a "2" or a "3", but both. i thought that was weird.
also, i just found some bad news: the machine shop removed my bearings when they swapped pistons/pins (yes. i forgot to remove/read them before dropping them off). this means:
1. i have no idea what color the bearings are.
2. i no longer have a point of reference as to WHICH rod went in WHICH cylinder.

it looks like i'm gonna be doing a lot of plastiguage.

also, i have yet to read the main bearing sizes. i'm still trying to remember where the numbers are listed. i've swapped out pistons before, but have never had to deal with bearings, etc. this is my first time.

Very odd indeed.

Sounds like you've got some fun ahead of you. Luckily there's enough Plastigage in a box for three V8s. I'm not sure about B-Series but I believe you'll still need the green Plastigage. Just take your time and triple check everything. Get a bunch of Ziplock bags big enough for what you're working with and write "1, 2, 3, 4" on them so you can keep everything in order and clean.
