Anybody of you turbo freaks used aftermarket bearings?
we all upgrade pistons and rods; why not the rod bearings? I know at this point everyone has used and seen the OEM bearings work but has anyone ever tried after market bearings?

King Performance main bearings
This is what they said of their bearins
"KING racing MAIN bearings. They have been making bearings for FORMULA 1 and NASCAR for over 40 years now. There new bearings are made with a new tri-metal smelting process and are silicon coated. With the new metal process and the silicon these bearings have much better properties than factory OEM bearings. With the silicon the bearings will wear and fill low spots and form a more concentric circle. These bearings are good to 1400 degrees rather than O.E.M. 400 degrees. This would make a good upgrade while you have your motor apart. I have these bearings in STD, .25 .50 AND .75 oversize units. I can also get ROD bearings if you would like. These MAIN bearings fit ACURA GS-R AND TYPE R MAIN BEARINGS. These I can also get bearings for almost any import or domestic application. NEW MAIN BEARINGS FROM HONDA SELL FOR OVER 219 A SET. DONT MISS OUT ON THIS GREAT DEAL. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT UPGRADE OVER FACTORY BEARINGS FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST. "

Re: (VNTEC)
I usually run OEM, but I finally tried ACL's. I am very happy with them and will continue to use them...Unless I am building a motor for a customer or friend who prefer OEM bearings.

King bearings may or may not be good. All good bearings, OEM, ACL, Clevite 77's, FM Race, etc are trimetals. However, bearings ride on a cushion of oil between the crank and journal..they are not supposed to wear in or fill in low spots. I think if your engine is on fire, the bearings would not see 1400 degrees much less 400.
