Default tool recommendations

i think i'd be able to do a lot more work myself if i had a tq wrench. so i was hopin someone on here could give me price/location info on where they got theirs. i've been lookin in hardware stores but couldn't find one at all. i think what i'm lookin for is called a tq wrench; i need a socket wrench that can tell me the lb/ft of tq i'm exerting so that i can re-tighten bolts to proper specifications. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Craftsman are OK ...but get a snap on if u can wait .... DO NOT buy torque wrenches from pepboys/autozone/kragen ...you will snap bolts off in things ...trust me on this one ...its not fun

Craftsman tools are fine. Granted not as good as SnapOn or Mac tools but if it works it works - I'm pragmatic. Check on http://www.ebay.com for some good deals on torque wrenches. My Craftsman DigiTork (however you spell it) was about $100 bones new. $80 bones off of ebay.

I wouldnt buy a used torque wrench, mechanics get theirs calibrated regularly, You never know who abused it before you. If youre gonna spend the $$ buy new.

I agree about only buying a new one. I highly recommend the Snap On click type. they dont require reset to zero after use and they work great. lifetime warranty plus they come in 1/2" and 3/8" and you'll need both.

get a 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" torque wrenches.

Craftsman Digitorque is good.
Proto is much better.
SK is o.k.

If you got the money go for Snap on or MAC or Proto.

Buy new not used.

Reset torque wrenches back to zero after you are done with them. If they are left in the high numbers it can get out of calibration.
