Default Too rich

I have a carburettored Honda Prelude, and the exhaust tips are black, indicating a rich mixture.
Since it's carbed, and the only mixture adjustment I can do is for the idle, am I correct in thinking my ignition isn't operating at 100%?
I'll take some resistance readings of my coil tomorrow and I checked my leads a couple of months ago, but just wondering if I'm on the right track.

I thought it might be that, but I had my timing checked about 6 months ago. Probably time to check it again though.

Good idea, I can test this tomorrow when I change my oil.
