Yes. Drain the excess ASAP.

Yeah, drain some out.. It's weird, I used to have risingson's attitude about this.. Then, my fiancee bought a 97 Prelude from her parents.. Her father did all the maintenance.. He ALWAYS put a quart too much in. Don't know why or how.. But the car has over 110K on it and all the tests (compression, etc) come back near stock.. That one still baffles me to this day..

I was always under the impression that too much oil will cause the crank to drown in oil.. The crank spins, turning up the oil and putting air bubbles into it at the same time.. Frothy oil doesn't lubricate well.. Never heard anything about rings going from too much oil.. Does that have to do with the raise in oil pressure?

Weird. I guess that 'Lude had a large oil pan.

Still, you shouldn't take chances with it.

A LITTLE too much oil (like maybe up to .25 quart or so) doesn't hurt anything. In fact, I frequently overfill my B16A slightly to make it an even 4 quarts so I won't have to deal with a leftover bottle with ~.125 quart. But if you are a quart over, you could have problems.

With too much oil, the crankshaft whips the oil into a foam, which can stop your oil pump from pumping oil through your engine.
