I did some research on this a while back, and found that this stuff can eat away at valve seals, and seals in teh fuel system, so I stayed away from it.

hehe, static c/r of 8.6:1. that will change, though. no toluene for me, please. i've taken plenty of chem classes (i'm an engineering major) and i don't want that **** near me if i don't have to. certainly not on a routine basis. of course, i don't want gasoline near me, either, but there's no way around that.

I love toluene. J/k.
I used to follow the old F1 technology where they had teams that produced 1300 hp on a 1.3 liter 4 cyl. engine and they had toluene to thank for much of that. Don't get me wrong, they also had several different fuel mixtures to achieve their desired level's of boost, power, and actual weight of fuel.

I wouldn't put toluene in my gas tank simply because I don't need to, not just because it can have negative side effects on seals and other parts of the fuel systems, (not to mention it won't necessarily improve gas mileage or emissions). I think that if I was building a highly boosted, small engine then I would consider alternatives to pump gas.

Its like they just read the topic and shat upon it. how classy. Ya ever see the 'racing gas' from 'gas city' gas stations. its non leaded gas? NO its 93 oct with a bunch of toulene! hehe. I actually sent them a letter to find out.

101 at the pump from my local gas station looks exactly the same as my 2.5 gallon Xylene to 5.5 gallon 91 octane mixtures. It is no harder on valve seals then unleaded race gas. It is the same stuff essentially. If you are worried about rubber in your fuel system add a little bit of marvel mystery oil.
