Default Toda A's in a B20vtec

Is anyone with a B20vtec running toda A's???

What are your thoughts on this setup and what compression do you run?

that cam should be great for that motor in general, from 10.5-11.5:1
awesome profile for bigger displacement... IMO

I am running Toda specA cams in my B20 with 12.5:1 CR. They are great cams and I recommend them to anybody with a DOHC VTEC B-series motor.

The most I made was 221 Hp and 153 ft-lbs using specA cams and I don't have to rev the **** out of my motor to make power.

My setup on my B20 is as follows:

B16 head ported by Portflow (OEM ITR type port job not fully ported/polished)
Toda header
Toda specA cams
Toda cam gears
Endyn/Wiseco 12.5:1 pistons
Eagle rods
AEM CAI
test pipe
5Zigen Border304 exhaust
'kenji' P28 ECU
270cc RC injectors (need bigger injectors)
64mm TB

Cool, thanx guys. I'm only at 10.5 to 1 but I think they should be ideal. I just picked the A's up tonight. Will hopefully be in and dyno'd next week

I totally agree, even ITR, CTR and Skunk2 stage 1 cams are very good for this setup. done it many times and made tremendous HP at nice low RPMs

hp goes up cause curve extends at higher rpm, but tq curve does not have as much "area under curve" as with the As (or smaller cam). The bigger bore and low rod ratio combo works very well with a smaller cam, almost all the time the smaller cam will beat the bigger cam on the big bore setup in a bench-race.

typically, smaller displacement engines need more cam to produce power because the speed of the air going through the motor is lower when compared to a larger displacement engine. if you think about it, with bigger displacement and a bit more compression you really shouldnt have to go to the bigger cam. heck, if I can have a stock GSR and then change the shortblock to ITR and have 160+whp with stock 99GSR I/H/C/E, ECU, IM/TB and GSR cams with little or no tuning whatsoever, I think it illustrates how more compression even makes a cam profile more effective.
