Bought some titanium retainers on ebay, but I dont think they are. They seem a bit too heavy and they have a bunch of little dings on em like they are soft. How do you tell if they really are titanium or not? I know how much they weigh, and how much volume they displace.

JGE, bought on ebay. I measured them at a specific gravity of 7.9. Titanuim should be around 4.5. Several messages to the seller and he keeps "assuring" me they are titanium. I'm not too happy about it, but i've been nice up to this point.

I love ebay, get some really good deals. Got most of the parts for my 400hp d-series there. This is the first time i've gotten an item that wasn't as described.

that guy is terrible.
he sold me some blox type b cams that had grainded spots and i had no idea how to identify them
i asked him to return them and he didnt wanted.
i also bought some supertech valve springs and reatines, jge cams gears. this one they were in perfect shape.
Im lucky that the cams were made good power.
log on tho jge website and find out. i think they make titanium retainers. good quality

 

i sent that "enginedynamics" guy an email asking if he is misleading buyers or if they actually are 'titanium'...i've been interested in this valvetrain package from the same seller.

He quit responding to my messages when I asked if he was going to make it right. Guess i'm going to open a dipute with the guy thru ebay. Make sure you get what you pay for with this guy, the retainers i got are cheap stainless steel at best.

 

here was his response:
"Hello ultraman713,

We would like to let you know that we sell nothing but true JG products, if you would like you can contact JG to verify that we are an authorized seller of thier products and we work very close with JG. We can assure you that the retainers are 100% made of titanium. thank you"
well, doesn't hurt to call JG directly before i buy.. thought i'd share w/the HT community.
