2.5" cutout vs. 3" cutout
Any difference in performance from a 2.5" cutout vs. a 3" cutout?
If it makes it any easier, my downpipe is only 2.5". I plan to hook up the cutout about 12" or so from the turbine outlet, so would that extra 0.5" really help out?

It would be intereesting to rig up sicen you'd have to get an exhust reducer to change the 2.5" to 3" at the cutout flange. but for the price. go the 3" ebcause if you ever measure the e-cutouts. to ahve clearence for the gate to open. it msut be smaller then the ID of the actual pipping. my DMH 2.5" cutout was actually 2.3" So if you get the 3" it'll atleast be true 2.5"+

Re: (Tchleung)
If you have a 2.5 downpipe I would just go get yourself a 3inch downpipe and use the 3inch cutout.
I made a 2.5 downpipe and went with the 2.5 cutout. Its plenty for my 14b 10psi setup. I can't imagine tooooo much of a difference. Sorry, I don't know if that helped any.

A cut out allows you to run a full exh. system and pass emissions, when you want faster spool time and more HP, you open the cut out and bam, more power and A NICE sounding exh.

Don't worry about it. We're all here to learn something...
But yea, the cutout (manual or electronic) lets you bypass the rest of the exhaust system and in essence allow you to run an open exhaust (like the one pictured). It also helps if you don't want a loud 3" exhaust or if you need to pass inspections or dodge the police for noise violations.
Tchleung: I wasn't aware that the gate is actually smaller. If that's the case, I'll definitely have to get the 3". Thanks for the heads up!

the cutout well, the E-Cutout is wired to a swithc incar that you switch to open the valve and run open downpipe/header. in donig so. you can retain stock exhaust. when you want power. open the bitch up :D

Re: (andysila)
you coud run as many cats and resoantors as you want to restrict flow and keep emissions down. that's how it can help you pass emissions and still have great power at a flick ofa switch. really simpel setup

hello friggin restriction CITY. That pic of the DP with cutout on it is soooo wrong on SOooo many levels. Wanna know how the real men hook it up?
-in that pic that CRX Drew posted... The tubing that spurs off from the downpipe, which has the threaded studs for the QTP cutout or the removable block off plate. bad idea, totally horrible flow. INSTEAD. hack that flange that has the studs off, weld it at the end of the downpipe (where the downpipe would in theory connect to your catylitic converter) then where the flange once was, route that to your regular exhuast system... This way, you take 100% full advangtage of open downpipe when the cutout is open, and the flow has a straight shot out,and not having to make some awkward *** bend. aka restriction. only downside is, your full exhuast route has been slightly comprimised with restriction, BUT. With my way, now you have 1 way no restriction, and 1 way with some. CRX Drews setup is restrictive both ways. aka no score.
I wish i knew how to post pics, i could better express myself, everybody understand what tried to say? lol
OR you can go with jimbo's custom exhuast. Which is i plan to possibly distribute shortly, its pure player stuff. super light, next to NO restriction, cheap, stealthy, and more!
