timing way off!!!
hey guys, I am in serious need of help. I just installed a ported and polished head with a three angle valve job on my SOHC w/VTEC motor. I finished everything and I thought I put everything back to TDC and number one on the distributer, but when I tried to start it, it just turns over. I went through the re-checks, made sure the crank and the cam were TDC with one anorther, made sure the number one plug sparkes when the cam and the cranck go to TDC position, and I checked the timing marking on the crank with the timing gun. I am at a loss, i don't know what else to do. one more thing is that the engine gets a strong oder of fuel when i try to turn it over. please help!!!!
your too rich . Unplug the electrical connector let car warm up then plug up the timing gun on the number one sparkplug loosen the distributor. Then make sure the distributor is at tdc tdc is when the mark lines up with the bar thats one the white side. Then you set it on the timing gun. I hope this helps.
i don't understand what you mean by 180 degrees, there is only two ways it can go on and the only true way is at number one. but here is the update, i now have it wnting to start when cranking, the timing is on, but it still smells of gas. i have advanced a little but no winner yet!!! please help me.
