timing right ? PIC INSIDE!!
i am going to say no judging by the top pic, but since the timing cover is blocking the lines i can't be sure. the only way to tell down below is if we can see the mark on the oil pump.
The "up" arrows don't point directly up, you must line up the marks on the cam pulleys too, the "up" arrows should be slightly forward and the marks on the cam pulleys should be horizontal, while the crank should be lined up with the mark on the housing...
Cam gears look fine. Gotta see oil pump and timing belt cog though. Don't go strictly off of the crank pulley unless you know it's dead on (they have a tendency to spin/rotate and go off a few degrees - sometimes even 180-degrees!).

The crank pulleys have dampening material that allows the outside to rotate over time. Mine is off probably 20 degrees on the pulley compared to the cog's alignment mark; so I had to remark the pulley to check ignition timing. I've seen some out 180-degrees though. The cog doesn't rotate - it's solid material. That's why you trust it 100%, and only trust the pulley if you KNOW it's still correct and it's been verified to be showing TDC.
The "UP" arrows are just a reference for cam timing. Dont actually use them. Like said above, the slits in each cam gear should line up with eachother. Which you cant even see from the picture, so im not sure why people are saying for sure the cam timing is correct.
first off, crank pulley and cam gears appear to be both off so how can you tell if your timing is on or off when you dont have at least one pulley positioned correctly? Your need to line up the crank pulley to the line on the timing cover then evaluate the cam gears to see if the marks line up. When you do that take a pic of the cam gears and then maybe someone can help you.
I can't speak about the vtec heads, but the non-vtec head has a hole in each of the cam retainers closest to the cam gear. All you have to do it take two allan keys and stick into those holes and down into the hole in the cam. There is a SST I think, but I just use allan keys. This will ensure your cams are timed right with respect to each other, and also makes it easier to put the belt on properly because the cam is held in position.
hey haukurn not trying to be a dick and jack your thread but I have the same question bout the timing with the cam......my book shows different timing pulleys so thats why im asking. in the pics the top each pulley has 3 punch marks. the first one (thats on the top) is a deeper punch and a tad bigger so I think those go up. then the pulley has 2 smaller punches 90 degrees on each side of the pulley.
So my main question is are the came pulleys set up right for tdc? Im good with the crank. o yea I know they aren't perfectly lined up just trying to get the idea

Cam gears are perfect, but one question on the crank pulley. Why is it red? someone paint it? I ask because TDC on the the crank pulley is suppose to be a white mark off to it self separated from 2 or 3 other marks. When you figure that all out crank pulley tdc mark should line up perfectly with the mark on the timing cover along with cam gears lined up correctly like you have them in that last pic.
yes your cam gears are correct. You do know your cam gears are aftermarket adjustable cam gear dont you? Check out this link this should help you http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/timingbelt/tbelt.php
