Default timing problem after cam install?

I just finished installing my skunk2 stage 1 in my car. Checked my timing and it was at about 8 so I tried to advance it. I can't seem to get it back to the stock
setting, 16. The max I can get is maybe about 10. My cam gears line up and #1 was at TDC using the crank mark. Can this be cause because the TDC mark on the crank is not accurate? Car runs strong so I don't think it's off a tooth. I just can't seem to get a accurate reading on my timing anymore. Any suggestions??
Couldn't find much about this with a serach.

The TDC mark on the crank should be 100% accurate.. your cam gear might be off one tooth..

do you need to jump a service connector on your ecu when setting the timing like on the 1st get set-ups?

(i dojnt know if this is your problem though...)

turn it to tdc on the crank white mark and see if those cam gear marks line up evenly.

Hey Tinkerbell, Why do we have to do that anyway? I see no difference when I do it with the service connector jumped

Yes, I rotated the crank and confirmed that everything lined up at TDC (white mark on the pointer) before I put everything back together. The cam gears marks lined up perfectly. I read that the skunk2 (stage 1) ping holes do not line up correct when at TDC? Can anybody confirm this? The pin holes lined up perfectly for me. Oh, and yes I did jump the connector when checking my timing.

thanks
