Default Timing is off need some HELP!!

I check my timing today and in order for me to get TDC 16 deg. I half to advance my distributor almost all the way anyone know why this is, I always thought it was suppose to be somewhere in the middle. I did a search and didn't really find an answer. Unless my belt is off by a couple teeth

Well I tried it and it stayed the same, I adjust the idle and that fixed it.

What is the jumper really suppose to do for the timing?

It's to put the engine in to diagnostics mode. It to let you adjust the engine without the ecu trying to over rule the adjustments you made.

BTW is your camshaft marks and crankshaft pulley marks at the right positions?

O.K is it suppose to show a check engine light, when u do this because the first time my check engine light came on then i tried it again and it was off.

So,then the next time when I want to advace the timing then i still want jumper the cable right? I assume yes just want to make sure

Well, the code doesnt come on when the harness is jumped, but it still throws regular codes at other times. Could it just be that wire? The ECU came with the swap from Hmotorsonline, so i wouldnt think that it would be bad...
