Default TIming off????

If my timing is off by a few teeth or something could that cause a high idle? Like, in some way the ECU is trying to compensate for the lack of something or the abundance of?? I have eliminated the TPS and the throttle plate as being causes of my high idle. I cant hink of anything else. Does someone know of anything else that might be the culprit?

Thanks

Usually it will cause a really rough idle. Is it high and smooth, or high and rough?

its right around warm up idle (1700-1800 RPM) at all times. It idles smoothly. I have checked my TPS and throttle body and both are good unless both of my tps are bad. I bought another one and it gets the same readings as the old one.

Nobody has an answer for me. I am stumped as I can be. If I let the car idle for a few minutes to let it warm up it will lower down to about normal idle for a few seconds or so then go back up...

check your IACV, could need to be cleaned or replaced..could be a vacuum leak too.

I thought the IACV only controls cold idle? Is there a write up on where it is and how to take it apart/clean it? I rememebr one about a FITV but no IACV. Thanks

can u feel a difference in the power or no? my timing was off a tooth and it was sluggish in the lowend but went back to normal in the higher rpms
check your timing there are three red marks in a row then a white mark about inches to the left of those red marks on the crank pulley, the white mark is center for the bottom...then take ur plugs out and check for tdc and match it up with the white mark on the crank pulley
