STUIPD IDLE DOESNT ADJUST HELP!!!!
ok i have a dc2, and i recently installed the edelbrock throttle body. the idle screw plays no role in the idle adjustment. I have to adjust the idle by the screw that adjusts how open/closed the circle plate within the throttle body is.
no vacuum leaks. installed 100% corect.
even my prior throttle body was doing it to. its pissing me off. any ideas. thanks for the help.

The ECU controls the idle. The idle screw is to set the BASE idle as specified for your engine. Jamming the throttle open will cause you a lot of problems. The TPS reading will be off a few tenths, the ECU can't control the idle, etc.
For a high idle, your IACV could be sticking or the throttle plate may not be closing the whole way.
For a low idle, you IACV could be sticking or the throttle plate is sealing too well.

its not high or low. its at 900, but the idle scew should be able to adjust how high or low the idle can go.
and i cleaned my IACV
DAM. DOES ANYONE KNOW????????????????????????

no its not sticking. It was before. and when then happend the idle was going up and down, but it was because the throttle plate was partially open during idle, which caused it to surge up and down like a bad IACV would. But after adjusting the throttle plate adjuster the idle dropped to 900. But when i try to lower/raise idle by the idle screw, it does completly nothing until the screw is completely out, and then it suks all this air and turns the idle wacko!

What size is the TB opening, could it be idling high cause the increased air flow? Was the ecu chiped before or after the TB install?

When you unplug the IACV, what is your idle? Have you set the base idle? Are all lights and accesories switched off when the 900 RPM idle occurs?
Are you sure that your tachometer is accurate?

everything runs perfect. its just the stupid idle. when i unplug the iacv the check engine light goes on and the idle gets higher( 1200 rpm), but runs like ****.
TB is 65mm edelbrock. the motor is in grade a condition. its fast, but if the idle wont adjust somethings wrong, and it bothers me knowing something is wrong.
the purpose of the idle screw is to raise or lower idle. correct?
thank u all who's helped.

Yeah, idle should be 750 +/- 50 rpm. But my car idled a little high after i installed my TB but got it taken care of after I had it tuned.

The idle should be about 450+-50 RPM with the IACV unplugged. It should not raise. It sounds like your IACV is bad. Block off the port for the IACV in the TB and see if the idle drops.

it could be that your engine is not running at the proper temp. it can probably be to cold and the IACV is trying to compensate for it. it could also be that you are sucking into much air into the intake system because of low restrictive air intake or not having one at all. i experienced a rolling idle for a while with the factory intake system and because there was no air filter. now i have an air filter no rolling idle.
I don't think anyone clued in on your post about your friend chipping your ecu.
What kind of program is on there? What's everything set at? Why was it chipped? I'd get this friend to re-tune your basemap and idle and see if that fixes things.
