Timing belt tensioner
is there any way to test the timing belt tensioner?? cause im changing my timing belt and all the places that sell them need to special order them and i dont wanna buy one if i dont need to.
i think you check it by spinnning it,if it doesnt make any noise, then its fine,if it makes noise, replace it.might as well replace it though while you are at it,its cheap

right..
It is a bearing and if it locks up,
It will destroy the timing belt which could bend valves..
It is best just to replace it everytime the timing belt is replaced
so you don't have to worry about it..

^ exactly. replace it while you do the belt because its less of a pain that way and its better to know you've got a new one in there instead of......."gee, i wonder when my tensioner will lock up...wish i would've replaced it." its called preventative maintenence, and you'll kick yourself later if you dont do it.
