Default timing belt ?

i have a d16y8 , just put the head on and everything aand the timing belt, is really tite on one side and loose on the other, i tighten the the tensor bolt as tight as i could get it, and you can slide the belt off the top of the cam gear if you really try, but im guessing this is alright and i can start her up?

you're suppose to let the spring do its work, if you made it as tight as possible then the belt tensioner will wear out prematurely

I have to say the spring tensioner by honda is very cheaply designed in comparison to other car manufacturers, but apparently it works even though the belts seems to be looser than it should. If you are in doubt, just push on the tensioner inward until you are satisfied and then tighten the bolt. turn the crank a few times and check your tension... roughly 1" of deflection from cam to crank
