timing belt??
i'm going to be putting in a new timing belt in my b18a and my friends are tellin me i'm gonna need a timing gun for sure?? is this true? i was just guessing i could leave my car @ top dead center and swap the belt and it shouldn't effect it if i swapped the belts.. someone please shed some light on this for me.. i have never done this before.

If you are nice and careful, and your crank pulley and cam gears dont move you might be fine without a gun, but really you should have one to at least confirm your timing. While you are at it you could also decide if you want to advance the timing and a gun would be needed there. Personally i would have a gun when doing a belt.... If you have an Autozone around they tend to loan out tools, check if they have a timing gun.
As long as you don't touch the distributor - which you don't when you're doing a timing belt change - then no you don't need a timing light.
