Default Timing Belt Off A Tooth How Do You Adjust?

Installed my timing belt and ignition timing is really advanced. The red mark on the pully is pointing towards the firewall. Looks like it's off a tooth, I retarded the dizzy all the way and it's still off quite a bit. How do you adjust the timing if it's off a tooth?

just get the white mark lined up on the crank pully and slide the belt off the cam gear and get the marks even with the head and slide the belt back on.

Is the car running poorly? Make sure you're using your timing light correctly.

You'll have to remove the upper timing cover and loosen the tensioner to get the belt over the cam gears. It's not too big a deal. Easy things first, though.

It was running poorly until I retarted my dizzy all the way and it runs a lot better then it was. And I do know how to use a timing gun. Just didn't know how to adjust timing when off a tooth.

With the cam gear marks aligned, do I just turn the crank pully a few milimeters counter clockwise or clockwise to line up the white mark and then slip the timing belt on again?
