Timing on a B16.
Just finished a headgasket job on my JDM b16a. All went well she started up nice warmed up well and all that jazz. Anyways, there is no lower timing belt cover (i know thats not the best in the world) and I can't seem to figure out a way to time the damn thing. I don't have an advanced timing light that you can adjust degrees with but is there anything i can line it up with or a different method to the madness?
Any info/help is appreciated. Thanks

Update: Clean burn out of the exhaust.. smells as it should. Still can't find mark on block but i did notice the 3 notches using a standard timing light are directly below the tensioner pulley's bolt. and the distrib it maxed out.. What should I try next?

Well i finally found the little *** mark on the block there.. i set the timing and rechecked after i tighted the bolts down on the dizzy. I took her for a test drive up n down the block. Car sounded a little more girthy then it used to, can hear more noise from the intake and the bottom end feels a little sluggish.. Would this be from the timing being off a bit(retarded) and im getting preignition? Which notch on the crank pulley do you recommend setting the timing to for a pretty much stock b16.
Thanks
