Maybe this is an easy answer... but I was unable to find any info on h-t. What's the purpose of front and rear tie bars??

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, suposed to keep the chassis stiffer, obviosly under cornering is when they have most of their effect.

I kinda beleive they are horse **** though.

Sway bars and strut bars should make a bigger difference.

You just contradicted yourself.

Tie bars, also known as strut bars, tie in the large gap between the wheel wells of a vehicle. This helps prevent the chassis from flexing because it is stiffer.

Tie bars and strut bars are different things (right?).

I'm thinking of a rear-tire bar, which goes under your car in the back, and and upper strut bar, which crosses over your engine.

I guess I could have specified "upper" or "lower"....

My bad...

Some call the upper strut bars tie bars. But the lower tie bars are only known as tie bars. So it really depends on who you are talking to. I tend to call the upper front and rear strut bars because most of the bars ties the struts together. Then again, there are manufacturers that do not bolt their bars directly on the top of the struts but on the shock tower. It's kind of confusing unless you really know what I'm talking about. But the lowers are always known as tie bars.

But that doesn't really matter, as long and you understand that the bar exist solely to reinforce the chassis by connecting them and preventing them from flexing.
