Thermo Switch connector??
Still having problems with the car NOT starting after it's warm/hot. Runs great until then....have to let it cool down about 15 minutes, then it starts perfectly and runs perfectly. Replaced the ignitor coil, distributor, cables, etc. Found a connector on the Thermo Switch that had been cracked and the fitting is not connecting now. According to my Prelude Service Manual...the Thermo Switch and the TW Sensor both have the same style connectors. The Honda dealership doesn't have a clue......Could this be my problem...a simple connector? Anybody had a similar problem? Is that connector I can just get at a junkyard because I can't seem to find a place to get replacement "connectors"......Any/All input is DEFINATELY appreciated!!
The TW (water temp) sensor does have critical role in 'hot soak restart' problems. If the connector is broken enough to cause a poor contact, the ECU will think the engine is cold when you try to restart warm/hot. As a result, the ECU tells the injectors to deliver more fuel, which causes flooding and a no-start condition. On my '90 Civic Si, the TW sensor has a 2-pin connector and the thermo switch has only 1-pin, so you couldn't 'steal' that one. If you can't find one at a bone yard, check Radio Shack for small push-on connectors that will fit the flat pins on the sensor. If you find some that fit tight enough, plug the open end of the sensor with caulking or something to keep the connections tight and corrosion free. Good luck.
