Default Tensioner Bolt

Is the timing belt tensioner bolt reverse threaded? Is there a way to get the cover around it off without remove the crank pulley?

the tensioner bolt? i've never had to remove the tensioner bolt to take off the front cover. it actually has an access hole through the front cover? are you maybe talking about the crank bolt?

It is just really hard to get too. I could get to it easier if I took that lower cover off, but the crank pulley is in the way.

What kind of tool are you using to loosen it, a socket wrench/air tool or what?

there is a a lil plastic cap with an 'ear' on it to pull out. There you can access the tensioner bolt which is a 14mm head. Use a 6pt and not a 12pt. You need leverage so a breaker bar with short 14mm 6pt socket and crack it CCW. Only open by a few threads, dont have to screw off. If you have an Integ or EX civic with PS, good luck !!!

Yes, I do. Even with the PS steering undone and pushed to the side the thing is impossible to get to. Do you recommend removing the motor mount, too?

Otherwise getting leverage is tough.

i use a 1/2" 6pt craftsman 14mm socket with 1/2" craftsman breaker bar. You have to remove crusie control box too ... its been a while since I did one of these on a car that had crusie, PS and AC LOL.

If that fails then jack motor up from bottom and take the mount off. You cant take the bracket off, thats too hard.
