Tell me what my options are
I have a 92 Civic Si w/165K. It burns oil, but still ran great ( 39 MPG City) until last night when my timing belt snapped. I, like all of you are very tight on money and I was wondering what my options are. I'm pretty new in the Honda world, I was a long time '92 SE-R driver, so I am not sure what engines are interchangeable. I found this engine "CIVIC ENGINE HONDA 96-00 44K DEL SOL 1600SOHC " for sale and I'm wondering if it will swap perfectly. This particular engine is NonVTec and mine is, so I realize this issue. But if I did not mess anything up on my head, I will just put my V-TEC head on this nonV-TEC. will the Tranny, axles, wiring, ect. ect match. will I need any kits? I know this is long but I appreciate it.

For the same price of what you're talking about doing, you might as well source a B16A from a Japanese SiR-II hatchback like yours. It's a Dual Over Head Cam engine that you would know from the '93-'95 Del Sol VTEC and the Newest Civic Si Coupe. It's a 1.6L motor putting out 160hp and 117lb/ft of torque. Usuially right around $3000 for the motor put in.
