Default B16A2 engine, where do you come from?

Please correct me if I am wrong.
From my understanding a B16A2 motor only comes out of a 99-00 Civic Si, right?
It can't be an SiR II because those just say B16A on them, right?
It can't be from a Del Sol VTEC because those are B16A3, right?
I just bought a motor from a guy and it's coded B16A2 but he said he pulled it from his friends Del Sol VTEC and he said it was the original engine. It's possible that this guy's friend put that motor in there and called it a Del Sol VTEC, right?

Please enlighten me if you feel I am wrong on any of my statements.

Del Sol vtec's were B16A3's. If I'm correct, 99-00 SI was a B16a4. I have a book on it somewhere, so I'll have to look up where exactly a b16a2 is from.

Look on the head, there's a little circular stamp just above the top of the exhaust mani.... It should have two numbers, divided by a slash.( i.e. 9/6, or 0/0, or 9/4, etc) That's the year the head, and probably the entire engine, was cast.

You'll probably need to take the heatshield off the header, if it's still on there, in order to see the numbers.

no sorry.
as *** backwards as it is
the del sol vtec is b16a3
the 99-00 si is b16a2.

there WAS a 1997 OBDII del sol vtec that MIGHT be b16a2, but ive never seen one in person to know for sure

someone suggest look on the head for the stamping year, thats the best idea.

on a side note, how the hell do I change out this lame avatar I have? it's pretty weak and I could not find where to do this in the controls.

you won't be able to change your avatar until you're upgraded from "trial user" status. Once you're a member you can change it to whateva joo want.

So are you still getting the motor?

how do get changed and not be a trial user any more?

Last night I got the motor, tranny, ECU, and wiring last night. I'm still missing the axles, shift linkages, header, header bolts, engine mounts, and the TPS is broken. I should have it all by tonight though.

So 96-97 del sols have b16a2's too? So there's an OBD1 b16a2 (92-95 euro VTi), an OBD2 (96-97 del sol), and an OBD2b or OBD2.5((whatever you want to call it)) (99-00 Si). That's a pretty versatile engine. Thanks for the info.

membership will come with time... i think it's 15 days, or sumpin like that. For now you can only post five times in a day and there are certain topics you can't post in (i'm sure you've already found this out though.)

give it a few days and you should be fine. Just use your posts wisely for now.

...and beware of the folks with 5000 plus posts, they don't like us n00bs.
