Icon2 Tech question

Hey, everyone

I have a question about my turbo build. I have a ls turbo integra. I've been having bad luck when I go to get this thing tuned. The last time I went for a tune I lost 80 hp from the time I was there before and the only thing I changed since the initial tune was head gasket and rod bearings.. When I went for the retune I lost hp. When I was getting it tuned this is what happened. He added boost and there was no significant change in horse power. And I know 1lb of boost is like 10hp or so.. And he advanced and retarded the timing 3 degrees and there was no change in anything as well.. So I got it home I put a new distributor on and filled it with Honda internals.. Coil, ignitor.. Assuming the distributor was the problem. Is there anything else I could possibly check before I go back for a retune. Thanks

Like WTF your turbo setup consists of for starters. Is your engine even healthy to be running boost?

52mm turbo? Erm yeah.

Why do people only answer only the first question they read? Good luck.

Yeah it's something like that.. Don't know the exact trim.. Any ideas on why I would just randomly lose hp..

Not really. You don't even know what you have in your setup. Start checking your couplers for boost leaks.

I know what my set up is. Besides the trim of the turbo.. Which is besides the point of my question. And I did check for leaks.. I can build and hold pressure. Considering I'm losing 80 hp I'm pretty sure It wouldn't be able to build and add boost pressure. It would have to be a considerable leak to lose that much hp.

Really!? How so? I figured a guy with 21,00 posts and claims knows a lot about forced induction would be able to give me little bit more technical info than check for boost leaks..

I know I said I was out but seriously. You don't seem to have a clue how to explain your issue. You don't answer questions put to you past "I'm not sure" if you even answer them at all. How the **** is anyone supposed to help you if you cannot even answer basic questions? What components EXACTLY (include name brands or if they're junkyard parts) do you have slapped together on this P.O.S.? It lost 80 horsepower? Don't explain how you know that. The tuner added more boost but no more power was made? What did he have to say about that? Did he give you any suggestions? Is your ******* engine even healthy enough to be boosted?

Yeah I'm definitely not making these numbers up. Like I said in my original post. I was at the tuner on my last pull I made 315 on 15 psi then blew a head gasket. So I replaced the head gasket and also replaced the rod bearings with Honda greens because he said they were alittle tight. When I went back for a retune I made 80 hp less on 19 psi. The tuner also told me when he was advancing and retarding the timing the was no power change as there should be. So he suggested i look in to the distributor cause obviously was losing boost pressure..Now if you have any idea as maybe what went wrong that would be great. If want to know a specific part I'm using I can tell you instead of giving a whole vehicle parts list.. And yes the motor is healthy everything in the bottoms end is new besides the crank. And the head is stock. I missed the question earlier.

This is a simple "What changed from this time to last?" situation. Headgasket. Have you performed a leakdown test to make sure compression in the engine is to spec? Why did the headgasket blow in the first place? Overheating? Headlift? I'm asking broad general questions because quite frankly this makes no sense. And the tuner telling you to change out the distributor? Better seek out another tuner methinks.

I blew a head gasket cause it was a shitty one. Replaced it with a oem gasket. An had the head decked as well be fore I put it back together. No I haven't done a compression test yet but thanks I will do you one and see what it's at. I'm pretty sure Evans tuning knows what there doing. Thanks.
