Default Tech HELP!!

I screwed up my injectors with the wiring. Anyhow... I reconnected some wires. My question is..... How will I know if I'm running on three cylinders? The check engine light will come on right? If thats the case how come I feel like I am missing power? Is it because I didnt properly restart the car correctly after the ECU reset? The car lacks power now and I dont know whats going on.

It aLso idles at about 600 rpm. Any ideas?

unplug one injector at a time.
if one isnt working then there wont be an effect. but the motor should run
noticably different if you unplug a working injector

or use a screwdriver stethoscope and listen for 'clicking' at each injector.

plus you car would barely run properly.

but if it was an injector problem the check engine light would come on right? I rewired the wires together....but I didnt restart the car correctly (warming it up for 5 mins) do you think its because of that? Because I didnt let the ecu learn all the components before taking a spin?

whoah - what is all this? your ECU isnt alive!

what did you rewire exactly & why?

if you car is running bad after you messed with it it is most likely that it is the messing that caused the problem, not hte fact that your car hasnt learnt all the components properly...

did you reset the ECU? (stop the blood going to it's brain?)

I tried to put the resistors on the ground wires that hook up to the injectors but I was in a hurry and screwed it up so I got pissed off and just rewired it and started the car to take it out for a test drive because when I first started the car it idle at about 300 rpm. After I drove it it only idle at about 700 rpm. It usually idles at 900 rpm so I thought something was wrong. Obivously the ecu reset because I had to diconnect the negative battery terminal. I thought maybe because I didnt give it time maybe thats why it idles low? What should I do? Car drives ok but it idles at 700 rpm. I hope you can help me out here tinkerbell.....

yo! man, im just gonna clear the air here before i help you (if i can...)

you NEED to know wht you are doing before you do it, or you can damage really important things, like your engine, your car or SOMEONE ELSE!

when you 'modify' your car you are changing it in a way that hte manufacturer did not intend, sometimes with dire consequences.

it may sound simple and fun and easy, but it isnt. modifying cars is HARD to do - it requires some degree of knowledge about HOW things work and WHY they work like that.

i have this knowledge through watching, reading, thinking, reading, listening, looking, feeling, reading, touching and FINALLY trying...

you cant run before you can walk, etc!

anyways.

i note that you are putting resistors on your injector wiring - why? have you changed the injectors - why? what to? what state is the wiring in at the moment? is htere a engine code?

can you take a pic of the wiring - this will help us help you...

thanks,

t..

I was trying to put resistor becuase I read a few posts on here that it tricks the ecu into thinking your car is cooler which in turn gives better torque. There are two wires in each injector. The colored wire and the ground wire. I just the colored wire by mistake and tied it back and out electrical tape around it. Then I cut the ground wire and just got frustrated and tied it back together and put electrical tape around it. thats all I did.Should I just go to the junk yard and find a new wire harness for the injectors or will it be ok the way it is. I know I screwed up but only becuase I was in a hurry which I now regret

OK, im not sure who was the crazy joker who made up hte BS about running cooler!! but they should be hog tied and not allowed near a car again!

you have to re-solder hte wires (which - from what i am hearing is not really something you would be comfortable doing)

or get a new harness or get an auto electrican to solder it for you.

do NOT put resistors on your injectors BECAUSE you will burn out the ECU injector circut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

additionally, there i NO WAY you can trick an ECU into creating more torque,

please buy a Helms manual!

I have soldering experience but.... just curious. Would it be cheap for a new harness? If thats the case how would I install it? I dont know much about the electrical part of the car. Do you think a Chiltons manual will work instead of a helms maunal? How hard will it be to install the harness? Thanks for all you help T!!

help = NP,

i am in australia at work - it is almost lunch time.

(so i dont know of the cost of USA parts etc)

hmmm, maybe get the chiltons first - learn about engines and when you are ready, move to a Helms...

harness = bitch, as it is the WHOLE engine harness.

try soldering yourself (it is only 4 wires isnt it?) make sure you have a quality iron and plenty of time, use proper electrical shrink wrap and dont just fudge it.

you should be running properly in no time
